Our Way Too Early Premier League Predictions (Week 10)

Updated: 2 days ago

Golden Boot:

It is hard to deny the claims of Mohamed Salah being the greatest player in the world on form this season. With a league-leading 10 goals in 9 matches and a stunning three 20+ league goals seasons in the last four, Salah has surpassed many EPL wingers, flying up the ladder to one of the best of all time. There is no indication of him slowing down this season, as Liverpool seems back to their best following the five-goal domination against Manchester United.

Title Race:

3rd place - Liverpool

Although with a predicted golden boot winner in Mohamed Salah, I see the Merseyside giants falling just short of the title this season. A greatly boosted squad from last year with the re-introduction of Van Dijk, Keita, and Firmino, and the arrival of Konate in defense, Klopp has found his way once again. Liverpool falls short for me this season as the 1st & 2nd place team cannot seem to be stopped. Unless Salah can continue his unbelievable form and Firmino can keep scoring hattricks, noisy London & Manchester clubs have the upper hand.

2nd Place - Manchester City

Pep's men are seemingly slipping away from other sides this season, as they sit two away from the summit. Unconvincing results against an inconsistent Tottenham side and severely weaker Southampton team see the Cityzens falling short, but a very positive result against 1st place Chelsea and other wins since have shown a revitalized side. I see players like Grealish and the newly brought-to-life Bernardo Silva becoming consistent contributors as Gundogan did last season. Phil Foden has all the potential in the world to carry this squad as far as they can go. Do not be surprised if Pep works his magic once again though, as they seem to always come back from shaky starts to the season.

1st Place - Chelsea

The Blues are coming off of a Champions League-winning season and they are picking up right where they left off. Lukaku has reinvigorated the goal-drought stricken side and kickstarted their season with a bang. Even though he has fallen short recently as well, goals chipped in from defenders-the most goals from defenders in the league- has kept them rolling. As said before, Manchester City does not seem to have that support of goals from their defenders as the London side does. Speaking of defense, Tuchel has patched up a leaky backline last year to a brick wall this year. While Chelsea has had more close games this season than comfortable, they have scrapped tough wins every time.

Other Way Too Early Predictions:

- Leeds will continue a relegation fight due to their inconsistency, especially without Raphina playing in top form.

- Brentford will have a hard fall off the second half of the season after their honeymoon phase.

- Newcastle will buy one or two high-profile players in January, but will still only manage to finish at 13th at most.

- West Ham and Leicester will battle for 4th place as the rest of the original big six will trip up once again.

- Arteta and Arsenal will end up above Tottenham (who will fire Nuno) and Everton.
