2020 Team of the Year
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer

A brick wall for treble winning Bayern Munich, Neuer returned to his best form in 2020. Following a 2018 injury, Neuer’s legitimacy as the best goalkeeper in the world was in question, but following this season he has instituted himself among the best in the world. His competition for the number 1 spot was Liverpool’s Allisson Becker, but Becker lost as an injury sidelined him for part of the season, whereas Neuer has been consistent all season long.
Left Back: Alphonso Davies

A rising young star, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies broke into the european scene in 2020 as a top Left Back. Since his breakthrough in the MLS with the Vancouver Whitecaps, Davies has only continued to get better and he should be the best left back in football for some years to come. His most memorable moment of the season came in Bayern’s 8-2 win over Barcelona, as he dribbled past Nelson Semedo, assisting bayerns 5th goal. His competition was with Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson, although they are very close, Davies won because of his champions league win.
Center Back: Sergio Ramos

One of the best defenders in the history of the game, age hasn’t affected Ramos’s game as he is still a top defender in the game. Ramos is a perfect mixture of technique and strength, as well as his leadership, he is the commander of Real Madrid’s defense. Although he has some young defenders around him, he should be a key member of Madrid for some years to come. His competition was Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk, although he is a top defender in the game, 2020 was not Van Dijks best year as he struggled with injury and consistency.
Center Back: Marquinhos

An underrated defender and playmaker, Marquinhos is one of the best defenders in the world as he led Paris Saint Germain to the champions league final. Following the departure of legendary defender Thiago Silva, Marquinhos had to fill in his boots as a leader and an elite defender. His two goals in the champions league quarter and semifinals helped lead them to their first final in club history. His competition was teammate Presnel Kimpembe who took the world by storm in 2020 replacing silva, Marquinhos took the edge due to his leadership and playmaking this year.
Right Back: Trent Alexander-Arnold

Consistently the top right back in world football, it is no surprise that Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is featured in this squad. A top defender and lethal passer, Trent has helped Liverpool stay a top team, even with a major injury crisis. He narrowly beat out competitor Joshua Kimmich for this spot, Kimmich has the potential to be a top right back, but he mainly played through the midfield so he didn’t play enough to make this position.
Central Defensive Midfield: Joshua Kimmich

A key member of Bayern Munich squad, Joshua Kimmich is one of the best passers in the game today. He helped lead his team to a historic treble, where he started every match in their champions league run. Although he sometimes featured as a right back, when playing Defensive Midfield he is no doubt the best in the game. His competitor was former teammate, Thiago Alcantara who narrowly missed, although Thiago is a better passer, since his move to Liverpool he has struggled with injury allowing Kimmich to take this spot.
Central Midfield: Kevin De Bruyne

Arguably the best player in the world, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne could not be missed in this team. The best playmaker in the world, he carried City’s offense while they missed Sergio Aguero due to injury. De Bruyne in this season will look to help City win their first Champions league in club history. His competition was Thomas Muller, Although Muller revived his career this past season, De Bruyne is still the better player, and has a bigger impact on his team.
Central Midfield: Bruno Fernandes

Underrated Star, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has helped re-establish United as a top European team. Since his arrival during the January transfer window, he has turned the club around as at the time of writing they sit in 2nd in the premier league. This season he has been amazing in front of goal racking up 15 goals and 8 assists in the 2020-21 season. Fernandes will have to keep this form up if United want a chance of winning the premier league this season. His main competitor was Tottenham star, Heung Min Son who led the spurs to an impressive campaign, although he lost this spot as United have had more success this season with Fernandes.
Right Forward: Cristiano Ronaldo

At age 35 Cristiano Ronaldo proved this season that he is still one of the best in the world. Leading Juventus to another Serie A title win, he led their attacking line with 35 goals in all competitions. Even with his age, Ronaldo will try to bring a much coveted Champions league to Juventus this year. His main competition was long time competitor Lionel Messi, although Messi has always been a top player he did not enjoy a successful season with Barcelona going through some turbulence.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski

The undisputed best forward in the world, Robert Lewandowki was lethal in front of goal leading Bayern Munich’s front line. Following years of success, 2020 saw Lewandowski get recognition for his abilities as he won Fifa’s best male player of the year. His goal scoring led Bayern to a treble and his first champions league win. His competition was Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, although he is an amazing player, he was not as dominant this year as Lewandowski.
Left Forward: Neymar Jr.

Paris Saint Germains best player, Neymar showed his true abilities this season where he took a more playmaking role in their attacking line. Despite this he still had an impressive 19 goals and led his team to the Champions league final. After several minor injuries in past seasons, Neymar proved why he is one of the best in the world. His main competitor was Madrid’s Karim Benzema who proved he is still a top forward in the world, Neymar beat him out due to his success this season with PSG.
